Fun Run Safety
The Colorful Soles event provides a fun, low-impact, and safe activity for people of all ages. While it’s technically called a “race,” we don’t bother with official times or place finishing. At an event like this, each participant wins, which is why it caters to everyone from first time runners to seasoned athletes.
Your safety is important to us, so we want to share the following considerations so you have the best experience possible!
Do not throw color powder directly into the faces of others. While the powder we use is non-toxic, you’ll still want to avoid lung and eye exposure.
For the safety of our racers and pets, animals are not allowed.
A generous donor will provide bottled water for the event, but you’re encouraged to bring your own if you wish.
Portajohns will be available on-site and we ask that anyone splashed with color not enter the CNY Family Sports Centre.
To protect the main field and each other, please do not stray from the defined course route. You can refer to the course map here.
All of our color powder is certified non-toxic, biodegradable, and is a combination of cornstarch, baking soda, and FD&C (food-safe) dyes. Even so, you'll want to avoid getting it in your eyes and mouth. It looks pretty, but it won't taste good!
You may want to consider wearing glasses for your eyes and a bandana or face covering for your mouth. Remember, if you generate at least $57 in donations, you'll receive a pair of tie-dye sunglasses and tie-dye bandana for race day.
Our volunteer color throwers will aim below the neck as you pass by and we ask that you do the same when throwing color at others.
Absolutely not! The Colorful Soles Fun Run is all about a colorful crazy day with friends and family. You can run, jog, walk, or cartwheel your way through the course if you wish!
The color will most likely wash out after the event, but it will really depend on the material and just how much color you're blasted with. As with anything dirty, the sooner you wash it the better.
If you raise $38 in total funds, you'll be given a white branded race t-shirt to wear for the fun run, but we suggest wearing items that you wouldn’t mind getting colorful (shorts, socks, shoes). You will be coated in color!
Vibrant colorful powder will be everywhere, so be totally safe, we recommend covering cameras/phones with a protective dust wrap. We know how important it is to grab photos and video, so we'll be adding a protective wrap for mobile phones to your swag bag. Be sure to use it!
Colorful Soles is not liable for any damage that might happen to your phone or camera so take proper precautions!
Kind of. We will have a leaf blower turned color blower available for those wanting a quick dusting off, but you won't be 100% void of powder. We recommend bringing a few towels to lay down for the drive home, but consider the remaining color your badge of honor for a good deed done well!
